Apology accepted.
What I like about this story is there is smoke but no fire.
Lucy, et al assumes that the Senator is a closet gay. Why because he was at a gay bar? Am I to assume that everyone that goes to a gay bar is gay?
Now I know I am being naive but so be it. But I am sure not every straight guy that goes to a strip club is doing more than looking.

So every gay and lesbian believes in same-sex marriage? As for the insurance thing maybe he objected to something else in the bill. Do insurance companies really ask about sexual orientation?
There is nothing in his voting record that says he hates gays.

Not necessarily hypocritical. My brother in law was an out of the closet openly gay man who voted each and every time against gay marriage amendments and gay rights propositions. He clearly thought that being homosexual was not a reason for special rights. He had put a lot of thought into his voting decision and it made logical sense to him.

Yes--every gay and lesbian person who is not seriously troubled believes in equal rights vis-a-vis marriage.
Health and life insurance companies don't ask directly about sexual orientation, but they make every indirect attempt to determine it.
How can you say nothing in his voting record is anti-gay? THESE THREE VOTES ARE ANTI-GAY!

Heterosexuals enjoy the freedom to marry whom they please, as long as their partner is of legal age. How in the world is allowing a gay person the same freedom a "special" right?

I'm sure those were his thoughts. But it would be a stretch to characterize them as "clear," since he misunderstood the definition of the word "special."

THESE THREE VOTES ARE ANTI-GAY!
There is no proof of that. You are just assuming that they were.
Maybe he objected to Harvey Milken Day because Harvey was a democrat, or he didn't feel the need for another special day, etc.
I will say again that being against same-sex marriage is not anti-gay. It is anti-gay marriage but not anti-gay.
And that insurance bill had many other things than just the sexual orientation mention.
Also Maybe he was voting to way his constituents wanted, some Senators do listen to their constituents. They are no all like the Democrats in congress who are deaf.

He clearly thought that being homosexual was not a reason for special rights.
How is it that if person A has a right to do something and person B doesn't have that same right, if person B is allowed that right, it becomes a "special" right for them?

To say one is not anti-gay and in the same sentence say one is not in favor of allowing gay people so fundamental a life choice as marriage is absolute nonsense. It is the fantasy of someone who refuses to examine his or her bigotry.
Religion has no business determining law. All arguments against gay marriage are religious, even if they attempt to disguise themselves as something else.

You are nakedly deluding yourself. I wonder why.

Whoever taught you that to assert something over and over without providing any explanation for why it's true constitutes an argument?
You can say it again and again and again, until you're blue in the face. You have not given us a reason to credit your assertion.
