Manage Orders Enhancements: Concessions and Seller Memos
Posted: Jul 10, 2009 7:23 AM

Today, we are launching two new features in Manage Orders to enhance the range of seller tools available for tracking and resolving order issues. Sellers will be able to issue concessions to buyers for amounts in excess of original order costs. Sellers will also be able to add their own notes to orders to keep track of order processing issues.

These features are available now to Amazon.com Marketplace sellers and to WebStore by Amazon sellers. Amazon.ca Marketplace sellers should see these new Manage Orders features within the next week.

The new features can be seen in this Partial Refund example:

Concessions

Both the full refund and partial refund options in Manage Orders will have line items for Return Shipping Concession and Other Concession. Concession limits are set by Amazon and displayed on the refund page. When a concession is issued, the full amount of the concession will be debited from the seller's account.

Concessions are amounts that can be paid by the seller to a buyer other than as a refund of the order amount. For example, in addition to refunding an order, a seller may choose to compensate a buyer for return shipping costs. Or, when a buyer receives an item that is not exactly what they expected to receive (perhaps the color or size is different) but is nevertheless willing to keep the item, a seller may wish to provide a concession to the buyer as a goodwill gesture. Concessions are voluntary on the part of the seller.

For more information, see our new Help page: Issue Concessions

Seller Memos

A "Your notes" section will appear on the Order Details page and on the Refund page in Manage Orders. Sellers can add notes before shipment or any time after orders have been fulfilled. Seller memos are an easy and efficient way for sellers to keep track of information about a specific order. Notes can be entered, revised or removed as needed. Seller memos will not be displayed or sent to buyers.

We hope you'll find these new tools helpful for managing your business.

Thank you for selling with Amazon.
