What is the difference between Selling on Amazon and having a Webstore?

Simple Answer: Selling on Amazon is specifically selling your products on Amazon.com. You upload your products and they display on Amazon.com. You receive orders that you need to fulfill through Amazon.
WebStore is a specific program where we have tools that will help you build your own eCommerce website, that is hosted by Amazon. We provide you with the item database, the WebStore creation UI, and we handle the payments for the WebStore. However all the marketing for this site comes from your hard work and due diligence.

There are some gaping huge problems with Amazon webstore. For $60 base + fees, you really don't get a lot when Amazon's webstore doesn't let you sell your items on the webstore! This is a HUGE issue and it has yet to be addressed!
Everytime I have received help from someone at Amazon, they clearly have no idea what the problem is, or if they do, they are inarticulate at saying "we see the problem, we understand the significance, we will work to fix it"....instead what I hear from Amazon is "if you are having issues listing inventory on Webstore, please make sure you have all information such as the description, title listed" etc etc (as if I haven't been listening to their advice for the past 6 months) and that is usually the end of it. When I take screenshots and ask for help via email, I usually get a person who sounds like a computer-text program responding to my queries, thusly the issue is STILL around!!!!
UNACCEPTABLE!
So the problem is very BASIC. Some inventory that is IN STOCK and listed with IMAGE, TITLE & PRICE when mapped to categories in the Webstore Category manager, does not appear on your webstore in the proper categories. This means that if you have Resident Evil for Playstation 1, and you map the listing to your category "Playstation 1 > Games", when you look for the game "Resident Evil" for PS1, you will not find the listing. If you do a search and are lucky enough to find it, you will see it has no price and no item quantity. That's IF it turns up.
So when I take the url for any item, and replace the ASIN with whatever I am looking for, that will usually take me to the item I am looking for, as long as I have it mapped to my store at all. The problem is it will not display in store categories at all, so the only way to make it display is by having a text link. What gives? Why do I have to jump through those hoops?
What if all inventory that you had could be mapped into Amazon webstores, then I might not take as much issue with the $60 a month base fee or the 7% fee per item. We deserve to have 100% of our inventory on our webstore as most of us are already paying a $40 fee a month, only to be restricted to only sell in one category. This is a huge problem and I have yet to see anyone take a remote second to address it.

It is clearly a problem with the switchover to using parent/child relationships in the Video Game category. I'm losing my patience on this issue.

I am fairly new to selling on Amazon but I am loving my success...thanks Amazon! However, I wanted to know if any other sellers recommend certain software to use to monitor your sales, costs, etc. Also, anyone had any success with Doba?

I find it impossible to even get signed up and approved to sell on Amazon which is beyond frustrating. I am a power seller on Ebay doing about $15K a month in Juicy Couture jewelry and handbags. At least SIX times I have tried to get approved and the same canned response about the photos submitted. I am perfectly capable of taking jewelry photos and white background and have no clue WHY the canned response says the submitted photos are unacceptable. Please resubmit. No explanation or anything. It is hard to fanthom why it would be so hard. I only sell through an ebay store and the link to it is www.discountfrankie.com. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why doesn't "Ask Amazon" answer questions? What is the use of "Ask Amazon" if questions like "When are sellers on .ca going to be able to create a page" or "When will sellers on .ca have a webstore" go unanswered?

I have several books that I want to post on Amazon but searching for their ISBN does not come up with any results. How can I get the ISBN's into Amazon's system?
(The ISBNs are registered with Bowker)
Cheers!
