"I would like to suggest: - Restriction for sellers only include only sellers with a active seller account or past sales. This would help cut down people opening bogus or countless accounts. Having a valid bank account and CC on record is easy to get past for schemers surely Amazon knows this.
- Restriction of the amount of times a seller can change their seller nickname or profile name.
- Restriction on people using the dot com / dot org / dot gov in the seller name or nickname or profile name
- Restriction on sellers using the name "Amazon" in any shape or form for either posting to threads or to actually sell."
Thank you for the suggestions.

Apologies for keeping you in the dark on the launch date of the new Seller Discussion Boards. We are presently working through some technical issues and want to be sure that those are addressed before we announce a date. We'll let you know soon.

I was wondering, since you'll be allowing sellers to choose their own screen names, if there will be a way to keep someone from spoofing the uninformed by choosing someone else's business name as his/her own screen name. For instance, what keeps someone from calling himself bayfrontbooks if he gets to it before I do?

Someone could choose "bayfrontbooks" as their username. Remember, though, that to establish a seller account, a person must have a valid credit card and phone number. And to post on these boards/establish a user name, you must have a seller account. We think these requirements will deter those who seek to engage in malicious behavior because they are hurdles that such individuals will likely not care to be bothered by. As we do in the present boards, we will monitor abuses of discussion content, including seller usernames. We have banned certain usernames when they were obvious misappropriations of other seller usernames or when they were overtly obscene.

Couldn't "AMAZON" put something into effect (software) that would ban sellers or anyone from using names like (amazon123) (amazon_mod) (amazon_CC) You cant sign up on ebay using a name ebay123 or ebay_mod or ebay_cc. It cant be that hard to do. It would be just a simple software extension that would stop the use of the name amazon. Last time I checked it was a trademarked and registered name and logo. Thanks again for the changes you are going to be making. We cant wait for them to take effect. MusicMan,..............

My question/suggestion is this - Amazon is currently attempting to improve collectible books as a viable selling option on Amazon - many of the changes have been positive steps in this direction-
Question will there be a discussion board specific to collectible books. Lynne

I doubt there will be any arguments from any of us about the tech department's taking the time to iron out glitches before launching the new forum. At the risk of repeating what was said by others earlier in this thread, I have to tell you how happy this dialogue makes me. I'm grateful for your forthright posts and obvious understanding - and addressing - of posters' concerns. Whoever you are behind that "sellerannouncements" ID, I think we love you. Barb

How would that really be anybody else's business outside of that poster's? I don't see where it would be any of my business or any one else's how Half Price Books or any other seller handles their discussion board posting I.D.
As Barb said, most of the big boys and girls don't post on the boards anyway. If they did, I would think how they post would be a private matter between themselves and the board moderators. Not exactly something that should be open for public approval or scrutiny.

A point of concern about "useful" ratings.
I have noticed that when I posted book or movie reviews on the Amazon site, and my review is a negative one, I receive many "not helpful" responses.
How is saying that you disliked something and listing the reasons why not helpful?
I am not sure what the helpfulness or usefulness ratings accomplish, except to serve as a "thank you" to the poster.
I would hate to see usefulness ratings discourage posters from valid complaints.
