Does anyone want to share their inspiration for their seller name? I've seen such interesting and clever ones here. Cosmichomicide, Mendicantpigeon and Flyinghouse, for example, give me such intriguing mental pictures!

Flights of Fancy : often my mind takes me to wonderful, imaginative places - and I take my flight of fancy - by selling books I am giving others a chance to take theirs also by reading.

Cosmichomicide = Science fiction and mystery genres. Years ago, being an avid reader and collector in those two areas, I looked very seriously into opening a specialty B&M. That fell through at the time, but when I started selling online it was a no-brainer for name.

I am Shorttreeleather. I got the name cause my last name is Stump (short Tree). And I have a leather design, repair & Tooling business besides this online selling. Great thread. Sincerely, Shorttreeleather

Fuzzy Marcus is the name of my cat, named by my friend's daughter, who gave him to me. I was using it for my email name, and it just carried over to the name of my bookstore when I started selling for fun on AMZN. I know I should change it, but now, some of my repeat customers look for it--and now I am serious about this!

I came up with Flyinghouse because I started selling in the hope of decluttering around here (let's not consider how adding inventory and loading the house with packing supplies has kicked that idea in the butt <g>), and I thought I'd start by trying to sell some of my books and CDs here.
There's a website - www.flylady.net - focused on decluttering and keeping house. I've tried using the system from time to time but have never quite managed it. But I like it in theory, so Flyinghouse is a combination of a tip of the hat to Flylady and an image I had of all this excess stuff flying out of my house.
Barb, who started selling at the beginning of 2004 and whose house is probably in worse shape than it was then, because scouting, listing, and selling are a whole lot more fun than cleaning and decluttering

Nothing exotic here. My primary business for the past fifteen years has been installing telephone equipment. Since the early days of the Internet, I've always used the id of Phoneman. It was not available on Amazon when I signed up, and, I was fifty years old, so, you get the picture.

I came up with Cash for Media because it is direct and to the point.....like me. I only sell media related items and even though people only pay with credit cards, some how "Charge for Media" just does NOT have the same flow. I wanted a professional looking name that was original (no 1, 2, 3 variations) and told exactly what I offered. I also wanted something that was easy for a customer to remember.

Hi, I'm Grandmasatticfullofbooks. The name is rather ironic as I am a grandmother of five but it comes from memories of my own sweet grandmother's wonderful attic full of books, letters, pictures and other momentos. She was very generous and patient in allowing me to sort through all the memorabilia whenever I wished.

Love that website! My favorite shows are Mission Organization and Clean Sweep-both on HGTV. My seller name came from a version of my bookstore son's catalog business (Perennial Books) to indicate an "eternity" of titles-(and also because I've always loved that word)and is not, as some would think, religiously-oriented , though the same name IS used for a New Zealand Christian book store. I got zinged by a customer once, looking for my website and neglecting to put an apostrophe between eternity and books.com, claiming that I was anti-Semitic for directing her there when she was looking for Judaica-I guess she thought I was trying to convert her!

Tarmans Books - plural not possessive. It is our own name. We have lived in the area since 1940s and people know our families. Less trouble than with DBA and fictitious name requirements.

She really did encourage me to read and also gave me a greater gift - an ambition to grow up to be a grandmother because she and my grandfather were such wonderful people and showed us so much love. While so many friends who were well within grandparenting age groups hated the title of grandparent, I was only 42 when my first garnddaughter came along and I was then and still am thrilled with being her grandma.
"Surely, two of the most satisfying experiences in life must be those of being a grandchild or a grandparent." -- Donald A. Norberg
