For AOB Users: Using AOB & Endicia: Insurance

In light of recent changes at Amazon, I've decided to add insurance to all titles I sell worth over $35. I currently print postage by going to AOB, clicking SHIP, then Old Bulk Ship, then right-clicking "Get DAZzle XML File generated 2007-08-13 21:13:53" etc and saving it to a folder where Dazzle finds the XML file and then begins a print. I know I that in Dazzle can go into "Postage Options" and then toggle Insurance to Endicia insurance, but that won't let me select values for all the items, nor will it let me turn insurance on for all the items. It appears that toggle only allows me to insure one item at a time. Can I turn insurance on for everything? Am I missing something? Can I select insurance on a per-parcel basis?

This will be my only bump, since the daytime crowd missed the chance to see it.

Woodtek,
There isn't a way to add insurance through AOB that I have found.
What I do is download the bullk ship XML from AOB and then run a script that adds insurance on large dollar items (or DC on not quite so large dollar items). The script then kicks off endicia and automatically prints, so it's only slightly more work than before (really less overall, since I don't need to manually process insurance and international orders).
I think they have insurance on their to-do list at AOB.
Bob
p.s. I'm not going to offer the script since it's tailored to my setup and would probably take me more time to make it sharable and configurable than it took me to write in the first place. The XML format is documented on the dazzle site though. It's pretty straightfoward.

You can buy the insurance but they will not insure you against amazon giving away your book. I have not found a way to do insurance in a bulk run. Just one at a time.

I wonder what happens if you state that the package was insured when you respond to the A-Z claim. Will Amazon tell the buyer to work with you rather than just granting a refund?
I think most sellers used to hold that info back on the assumption that Amazon would tell the seller to use the insurance instead of paying back before the policy change.
I've never had an A-Z on an insured package, so I don't know how they handled (or will handle) that.

Doesn't make sense, given that I'm permitted to buy insurance and file claims on items shipping WITHOUT delivery confirmation. Note the following categories on Endicia's insurance page: Endicia Insurance Categories Domestic Tracked - Express Mail
- All Domestic mail with Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation except APO/FPO.
Domestic Non-Tracked - Mail to Canada
- All other domestic mail without Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation except Express or APO/FPO.

I'm marking this as answered. Yes, you can do it, but no, you can't do it without writing a script.

I can surely be wrong here. I was just sarcastically guessing that would be the outcome. I am , however, very interested to see what will happen to an order with dc showing delivered, that was insured, that has been refunded under the new a-z. Has anyone yet filed a mail fraud claim for an order with dc showing delivered and yet refunded under the new a-z? Is it even applicable? Thanks in advance for any replies, Spike

Endicia insurance requires you get an affadavit from the buyer. Good luck with that. I never used the AOB bulk ship page. I always found it to be quicker and more manageable to do each package one by one just using the ship list. 30 seconds.
