Warning! You better check your listings!!!
Posted: Apr 3, 2009 6:19 AM

O.k., I have just talked to Warren at Seller Central, he has informed me that A: This is a true Glitch b: There is not one word about it on the message board and C: It is not resolved!

Some sellers (including me) have had some of their prices changed on items without their knowledge. I had an item that was 89.99 priced down to 9.99, and the same thing with a 29.99 item and a 24.99 item. Thank goodness I caught it, I could have lost several hundred dollars!!!! Mr. Warren told me to put my stuff pon vacation, which is now costing me more money in lost sales today. Please check your inventory and make sure this has not happened to you!

Also, he said there was "no way" they could inform me through e-mail when the glitch has been fixed. Boy, they sure are in a hurry to inform me when a customer files an A-Z claim!

And they don't seem to have any trouble securing their $39.99 either

For those that may not know - if you want to order your open inventory according to price order you can go to your open inventory - find the "price" column and click price. This will put your listings in price order. Highest to lowest or lowest to highest ( a second click will reverse the order) Lynne

Keep in mind that Amazon has developed systems to handle everything that may be expected in A-Z claim situations, thus their timely notices; however, in a glitch, they have nothing figured out.

fairygirl aren't you in San Marcos?

Why do we not have a glitch where the $1.95 listings are raised and sell at $19.95? lol

Was there any know rhyme or reason to which listings had changed prices?

OMG, thank you OP. I checked and already I see a page of prices that are wrong (some are at .01). I put myself on vacation and I am going to fix the listings, as well as call seller central. Some of the prices were changed on valuable books, no way i would ship for the prices they switched to. I wish Amazon would get it right.

Thank you for the head's up. I had no idea there was a pricing issue until you raised it. I thought I had an order that the price seemed lower than I thought it should be but I just chalked it up to my silly memory.

I just looked at my listings and my prices were messed up for sure. I immediately put my site on vacation and will wait it out for a bit. I have never had as many problems with my listings until the last week or so. I'm not thrilled to have my listings off since I'm selling about 40 things a day but I just can't take any more chances these days.

I fear this may take some time to fix.

Thank you again for your warning!

What scares me is for those of us who haven't been hit by this glitch yet, being hit with it during their attempts to fix it. I would guess that many are like me and checked to see that everything is okay and breathed a sigh of relief. Now I wonder if I need to keep checking to make sure that they don't mess it up during the repair attempts.

This is a biggie.

There is still an issue. I think I'm going to have to re-list my entire inventory.

Warning! Book Sellers HomeBase or UIEE Updater/Exporters!!
Posted: Apr 3, 2009 3:59 PM   in response to: fairygirlbooks

I haven't been able to run a successful update all this week. I keep getting the error codes 8004 & 8041. I have contacted Seller Support 6-8 times and have been told several different things. But today they announced that it was because my book listings have First Edition and they will no longer be accepting that term!?!?! They informed me that I had to remove First Edition from all my listings in order to successfully update my listings! This is unacceptable! Please advise if any of you have experienced this.

Thanks, Kathleen

Well honestly because you were on my watch list and I wasn't sure why. Figured it must be cause you were in the area.

I'm opening a new bookstore on the San Marcos square May 1st with very reasonable prices in case you are a book lover as well as seller. You may even be able to find some stock for resale fairly easily.

I am glad that I read these messages!  I have not sold any books in over a week and when I checked my listings there was a problem but instead of lowering my prices, AZ has raised mine by 50.00 to 100.00 each.  No wonder I am not selling anything!  I had a book priced at 25.00 and it had been changed to 125.00, etc.  I am working on page 7 of 21 pages of listings trying to get my inventory priced correctly.  This is a nightmare!

Don't bother trying to change your listings, just put them on vacation. I already tried that and they just kept changing back. I'm going to wait until tomorow afternoon, wipe them all out and re-enter them. Of course, that won't be as bad for me as for some other people because I only have an inventory of 150 items right now.

thanks so much for the heads up. I have not checked listings yet and I am afraid to and the fact is I have over 1300 so I would not know what was messed up without going one by one. That is what really scares me. YES I would know if something were a penny or below my minimum or if they were in the thousands range .

. I have not had many sales recently and the ones I have had seemed suspiciously too low but I just shipped anyway since they were in the 10 dollar range .

As I said, for sure SCARY because I do my listings manually and so just cannot go one by one to fix a glitch like this in any timely way with how slow S central is now and I cannot afford to go on vaction. It is time for me to reprice but I could not do it fast enough under the current conditions you mentioned here plus all the other issues lately.

sounds like it cannot be fixed manual anyways. It sure is unsettling that you have tried to fix yours and they just revert back and now is the weekend . Good luck to you and everyone. i have never seen amazon such a mess since I started 5 or so years ago and that is saying something cause i have seen a few big mess ups here but lately I do not even feel like fixign anything cause I feel what is the point until some kind of handle is on it by the tech team ( at least a little )

thanks for the heads up because now I am at least just going to take a look and see what is happening..
