Error: No listing exists for this inventory item
Posted: Jul 24, 2010 2:02 AM

Hi all,

I have just logged into Seller Central this morning and notice many of my FBA listings say 'No listing exists for this inventory item ' All my items are set up correctly so i cant understand why it has done this all of a sudden. The result of this means my items are not appearing live on Amazon?

Thanks

Lorraine

This keeps cropping up. Here is the fix that was posted several weeks back and I used! Thanks Trading Pages!

To fix this you have to:

Look up the item by ASIN (this is to make absolutely sure you are relisting the same as your original listing was)

Create a new listing using the SAME SKU you used on the FBA listing

When you see the listing live in you open inventory listings you need to convert it to FBA. Use the option to convert WITHOUT sending inventory

Your listing will sync up with your FBA inventory and all will be well again

Foot note:

If you run into a message that says you cannot use the SKU because it is being used somewhere else, you need to get TAM involved in fixing it. It's a glitch.

Actually, you might be able to fix it without re-listing. Just switch your listing to Merchant Fulfilled, wait 10 minutes, then switch back to Amazon Fulfilled. That's what Seller Support recommended to me initially, and it has worked every time I've tried it.

If it's a stickered / stickerless issue (because of some idiot creating a duplicate listing, perhaps), then you'll have to re-list. But it's worth trying the aforementioned technique first.

I tried that on 4 of them and it didn't work, but will keep it in mind.
Jim Thompson from Amazon sent me an email with an Excel spread sheet attached and said that was the easiest way to fix it. He hadn't formatted the ASIN column and the leading zeros were missing. Also he listed about 20 titles and I found 4 with trouble, so not the easiest way. LOL

Now, I just found a VHS that someone hijacked into a book with unknown binding. I have to figure out how to fix that.

If Amazon creates a page for a bargain book that's the better page to be on as they drive traffic to the bargain page. Is there any way to change an item already at Amazon to a better page?

List your item as Merchant Fulfilled and when you get an order, ship the item from your FBA inventory using Basic Fulfillment.

Shhhhhhhhhhh.

Yes, but that's extra trouble especially with Vacation settings. I have yet to calculate whether I gain or lose money if an item sells that way instead of via the originally planned FBA sale!

from my understanding this is mostly random when getting the error and they are not on top of a solution and to my knowledge there is no intentions of getting the root of the problem resolved, The only way to get the listings we have found is to submit an inventory flat file feed/ inventory loader using the upload macro, with the original uploaded/shipment file with all attributes and follow the guidelines for the fba upload format(blank expedited, blank international, "a" in the add delete column, and AMAZON_NA in the fulfillment type) this will fix the problem right away. The problem is without the listing being existing there are no attributes/descriptions, so if you upload a file that does not have all descriptions and everything else accounted for you will make the items active yes but you will lose the descriptions, and if you get a file from amazon it will be missing these descriptions. The solution we have found is to make sure to keep the original shipment files and upload them using the formula I described above with the inventory loader flat file feed...sounds complicated but after you do it a couple times it is easy. There is not reasoning for why these listings do this and it appears to happen to random books but it tends to happen to majority of a shipment in my experience.

Vacation setting should be pretty easy. Unless you are vacationing with zero internet access, you wouldn't even need to change anything. Get the order and process it. Or change your MFN inventory to zero.

Only list MFN at a price that is more profitable than your FBA listing or else why bother?

FBA Basic Fulfillment fee for a domestic 1/2 pound book is only $2.95.

We will be offering a service soon that will list on multiple channels and automatically process Basic Fulfillment orders so there would be no need to worry about vacation settings.

The FBAPower program does this with one click. If you encounter this often in your account, we may be able to save you a lot of correction time.

How long until your program is fully functional? Do you have Beta testers now?

(Not FBAPower but...) their beta period is closed. The product launched live already.

Thanks. I assume he has a web-site where I can find answers.

How do I get TAM to fix my "No listing... problems? When I try to correct them it says the sku is already in use.

I just notify amazon when this happens and let them fix it. This seems to have with a few items of every FBA shipment I send out. It gets frustrating.
